Alaafin of Ọyọ emergence

Oba Abimbola Owoade, Alaafin of Ọyọ

Celebrate the new Alaafin of Ọyọ’s emergence and unite to uphold Ọyọ Kingdom’s legacy under his visionary leadership, writes Henry Alade

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Ọyọ Kingdom has entered a new chapter with the emergence of the new Alaafin of Ọyọ, a custodian of Yoruba history and culture.

Oba Abimbola Owoade’s ascension represents not just a continuity of the kingdom’s illustrious legacy but also a reaffirmation of Ọyọ’s enduring significance in the Yoruba nation.

We salute the exemplary leadership of the Ọyọ State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for his sagacity in overseeing the selection process.

His wisdom has ensured that this revered institution, the highest traditional Ọbaship in Yoruba history, remains in the capable hands of a leader who embodies the values and traditions of the kingdom.

To all sons and daughters of Ọyọ, at home and abroad, this is a clarion call.

Let us rally around the Alaafin, embracing him with unwavering loyalty and providing the support that his esteemed office deserves.

The Alaafin is not just a figurehead; he is the custodian of a legacy that has shaped the cultural and political identity of the Yoruba people. Together, we can elevate Ọyọland’s glory and preserve its heritage for future generations.

The youth, especially, must seize this opportunity to unite and contribute to the advancement of our land.

Let us channel our energy, creativity, and commitment into initiatives that will further strengthen Ọyọ’s position as a beacon of progress and tradition. The future of Ọyọ depends on our collective effort to honour its past while embracing the opportunities of today.

Personally, my love for the brand Ọyọ runs deep. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to promoting the kingdom’s rich heritage, working tirelessly to place Ọyọ on the global map. From cultural advocacy to community development, my passion for Ọyọ remains steadfast, and I am committed to seeing its legacy thrive.

As the Yoruba proverb states, Aji ṣe bi Ọyọ la ri, Ọyọ o ki nṣe bi baba anybody. Ọyọ leads; it does not follow. Let us uphold this spirit and ensure that the Alaafin’s reign heralds unparalleled unity, progress, and prosperity.

May Atiba guide us in this journey. Aṣẹ!
