Senator Gbenga Daniel lauds President Tinubu’s bold policies, comparing them to Awolowo’s visionary reforms, at an Ijebuland meeting
[dropcap]P[/dropcap]resident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been commended for his steadfast commitment to advancing Nigeria’s economic growth through bold and transformative policies.

Senator Gbenga Daniel, representing Ogun East in the Senate, made this assertion while addressing a gathering of traditional rulers in Ijebuland.
The meeting, held at the Akarigbo of Remoland’s palace, was aimed at consolidating the views of the Remos and Ijebus on the proposed creation of a state out of the former Ijebu province.
Attended by various leaders and traditional rulers from across Ijebuland, the discussion highlighted the importance of unity in regional development.
During his speech, Senator Daniel drew historical parallels, likening President Tinubu’s resolve to that of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the late premier of the Western Region, who faced fierce resistance while implementing progressive reforms in his era.
“Our late Sage, Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, encountered significant opposition when he introduced transformative policies such as providing pipe-borne water to Ikenne and the groundbreaking Free Education Policy in the Western Region,” Daniel said.
He elaborated on how Awolowo’s initiatives, despite initial criticism, proved to be visionary steps towards societal advancement.
Daniel argued that President Tinubu’s economic policies mirror Awolowo’s courage and foresight. “Our current president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has shown similar bravery in making difficult decisions to propel Nigeria forward.
Despite facing criticism, his determination and leadership have not gone unnoticed, even among sceptics,” he said.

The senator concluded by urging Nigerians to support Tinubu’s efforts, likening the initial challenges of reform to the eventual successes of Awolowo’s policies, which are now regarded as milestones in Nigeria’s development history.
