The suspects were apprehended on Saturday at Jiasheng Nigeria Limited, located in Dura Rayfield, Mangu Road, following credible intelligence linking the company to unlawful mining operations.

According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the arrested individuals include 27 Nigerians, some of whom were found in possession of unprocessed solid minerals suspected to have been illegally mined.

During the operation, EFCC operatives seized key exhibits, including a truck loaded with eight bags of processed Monazite, each weighing 1,000kg and valued at ₦4 million per bag.

This latest crackdown is part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal mining, a practice that has led to economic losses and environmental degradation in Nigeria.

The commission has intensified its operations against unlicensed mineral exploitation, particularly in resource-rich areas like Plateau State.

The EFCC confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of legal procedures.

The agency reiterated its commitment to enforcing mining regulations and prosecuting those involved in unauthorised mineral extraction.

This arrest follows a series of similar crackdowns by the EFCC, including recent operations targeting internet fraud and other financial crimes across the country.

Authorities continue to warn against engaging in illegal mining, as offenders face severe legal consequences.
