The drama unfolded at the Wanda Metropolitano, where Atletico, trailing 2-1 from the first leg, equalized early with a goal from Conor Gallagher just one minute into the match.

Atletico’s fast start sent the home crowd into a frenzy, but Real Madrid responded with their usual flair, as Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappé, and Jude Bellingham consistently tested Atletico’s defense.

Meanwhile, Atletico, under Diego Simeone’s tactical guidance, pressed high and sought the crucial second goal to take the lead on aggregate.

The match evolved into a tactical battle with both teams having chances, but as extra time drew near, the game intensified.

Atletico’s relentless attack was matched by Real Madrid’s resolute defense, led by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who made key saves to keep his side in the game.

After 120 minutes of intense play, the tie was settled by penalties. Mbappé converted confidently for Madrid, and though Atletico’s Alexander Sorloth responded in kind, Julian Alvarez’s miss gave Madrid the edge.

Despite solid penalties from Bellingham, Valverde, and Correa, the decisive moment came when Marcos Llorente’s shot hit the crossbar, handing Real Madrid the opportunity to seal the win.

Antonio Rüdiger, with the weight of the occasion on him, stepped up for the final penalty.
