President Bola Tinubu will inaugurate the groundbreaking of a 400-hectare cotton and polyester processing factory in Ogun State, projected to create 250,000 jobs daily, under the “Renewed Hope Cotton Resurgent Initiative”

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]resident Bola Tinubu is set to break ground for a landmark cotton and polyester processing factory, touted to be one of the world’s largest, at the Gateway International Airport’s Special Agro Processing Zone in Iperu/Ilisan, Ogun State, between May and June this year.

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun revealed this ambitious project during a meeting with the recently retired Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, and members of the Iperu Development Association at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The factory, operating under the “Renewed Hope Cotton Resurgent Initiative,” will occupy 400 hectares of land and is projected to generate approximately 250,000 jobs daily, significantly boosting the state’s economy and providing employment opportunities for a large workforce.

Governor Abiodun highlighted the strategic location of the factory, noting that its promoters chose Iperu due to the existing infrastructure, including the airport, proximity to consumers, and the central availability of raw materials.

He emphasized the transformative economic impact the factory will have on Iperu, Remoland, Ijebu land, and the entire Ogun State.

It will employ 250,000 people per day. The promoters of this factory went around the whole state, and they decided that this is the place they want to site this factory because of the existing infrastructure,” stated Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.

In addition to the cotton factory, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has expressed interest in establishing a base in Iperu to enhance security at the airport and surrounding areas.

Governor Abiodun also outlined the developmental strides his administration has made in Iperu, including the reconstruction of roads, renovation of schools and healthcare centers, and the construction of housing units at the Airport Housing Estate.

He commended Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein for her exemplary service to the state and nation, recognizing her contributions to Iperu’s development and her role as a role model for women.

Mrs. Madein, in response, expressed gratitude to the governor for his support and highlighted the conducive business environment in Ogun State that has attracted substantial investments.
