His emergence as the fifth President of the four-year-old club was marked by a colourful handover ceremony held over the weekend, drawing Rotary leaders and civic personalities from across District 9112.

The event officially concluded the tenure of Rotarian Muyiwa Akintunde, who had presided over the club from 1 July 2024.

In a detailed stewardship report, Akintunde reflected on achievements under his leadership, including a growth in membership, impactful service projects, improved fellowship among members, and the formation of a new advisory body known as the League of Past Presidents.

Notably, the outgoing President introduced the Member-of-the-Month Award to foster a culture of recognition. Recipients included Rotarian Modupe Aderemi-Bello, Dr Adebukunola Soile-Balogun, Rotarian Busayo Akomolafe, and others who made significant contributions to the club’s goals.

Akomolafe, who served as Vice President, was crowned Member-of-the-Year and expressed deep admiration for Akintunde’s calm leadership in a year marked by internal challenges.

Several members, including Assistant Governor Ibraheem Lateef Adebayo and Charter President Rotarian (Arc.) Deji Shonuga, received commendations for their steadfast commitment.

Akintunde, in his parting words, thanked members and stakeholders for their support in executing life-touching initiatives and welcomed seven new members into the club during his tenure.

He also introduced the League of Past Presidents during the club’s anniversary in March, a move designed to ensure advisory continuity and peaceful leadership transitions.

Expressing optimism about his successor, Akintunde said, “With the energy and inclusive approach that Engr. Oyelami brings, I am confident our club is in safe hands.”

As he takes office on 1 July 2025, Engr. Oyelami has already demonstrated a strategic mindset by assigning new members to key roles for the 2025/2026 Rotary year.

His vision aligns with Rotary’s core values and the club’s ambition to scale greater heights in service and visibility.

The handover was graced by District Governor-Nominee Rotarian Layi Abidoye, incoming Assistant Governor Rotarian Modupe Bankole-Erikitola, Past Assistant District Governor Rotarian Lanre Kasim, and prominent media professionals including Okwudili Onyia, Akin Olaiya, and Sanmi Falobi.
