Davido pulls out of London concert with 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige, citing unresolved issues despite strong fan backing and maximum support

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially withdrawn from 50 Cent’s highly anticipated Legacy Tour performance, which is set to take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 3 July 2025.

The announcement, shared by Davido via Instagram Stories on 14 June, sent shockwaves through his fan base across the globe.

In the statement, he firmly stated that his decision was not influenced by ticket sales but was driven by what he described as unresolved misalignments in event execution.

These issues, according to him, would have compromised the integrity of his performance.

“Despite strong fan support and impressive ticket sales, there have been major misalignments regarding the event’s execution,” the singer noted.

“Particularly concerning key elements required to uphold the integrity and quality of my performance.”

The multi-award-winning artist, who has often spoken of his pride in Nigerian music and the cultural values it represents, emphasised that professionalism and preparation were not lacking from his end.

Instead, he suggested that event promoters failed to meet certain standards that he and his team consider non-negotiable.

Over recent weeks, Davido and his team reportedly worked closely with The Neto Future Group, the promoters behind @iconicpresents.

Their goal was to deliver a world-class performance for fans in London, as part of a summer tour that spans several countries including Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada and the United States.

“My team and I have worked tirelessly in preparation,” he said. “This decision is not a reflection of turnout or support; it is a matter of principle and respect for my craft, my fans, and the culture I represent.”

The announcement confirmed that the 50 Cent Legacy Tour concert in London will still go ahead, but without Davido on the line-up.

Fans who were eager to see him perform alongside 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige have expressed both disappointment and support, recognising the importance of artistic standards and self-respect in a global industry.

While some reactions on social media hinted at confusion, Davido’s clear and direct explanation appears to have solidified trust among his audience.

He reassured fans that all other scheduled performances for the summer remain unaffected, and that London would not be left out for long.

“London, I’ll see you guys soon, I promise! Rest of the shows this summer are still happening. 5ive is still alive!” he added. “See you guys in Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada and the US! Africa must be respected.”

As the world tour moves forward without the London stop, Davido’s principled stance highlights the evolving demands of international music stars.

For him, it is not just about the crowd—it is about dignity, quality and the culture he represents on every stage.
