In a statement shared on his X handle, the governor praised voters for showing up in large numbers and conducting themselves responsibly at the polls.

“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all Lagosians who came out today to perform their civic duty in the local government elections,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu described the election day behaviour as a reflection of Lagos’ standing as the “Centre of Excellence” and a sign of progress in democratic participation.

“Your peaceful conduct, sense of responsibility, and turnout across polling units have once again demonstrated the true spirit of Lagos — built on participation, progress, and people-centred governance,” he added.

He acknowledged the efforts of youths, elders, market women, artisans, and professionals, noting that democracy thrives when all segments of society engage in the process.

“You have shown that democracy will continue to shape leadership when the people actively participate in elections,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

The governor also commended security agencies, electoral officials, and the media for maintaining professionalism during the elections.

“To our security agencies, the media, and electoral officials, I say thank you for your dedication and commitment to ensuring a safe and credible process,” he noted.

He called on political actors and candidates to remain peaceful as results from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission are awaited.

“I urge all candidates and political actors to remain calm, respectful, and law-abiding,” Sanwo-Olu urged.

“Let us keep this spirit alive as we continue to build the Lagos of our dreams — inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous.”
