Police arrest FCTA Director Joseph Eriki over alleged involvement in N310 million Abuja land fraud case. Court issues bench warrant for conspiracy and forgery

Police arrest FCTA Director Joseph Eriki following his alleged role in a N310 million land fraud involving several prime plots in Abuja.

Eriki, who heads the Directorate of Investigation and Prosecution at the Federal Capital Territory Administration, was taken into custody alongside Boniface Agwu and is expected to face a 9-count charge of criminal conspiracy, trespass, and forgery.

Their arrest comes after Justice Suleiman Belgore of the FCT High Court, Garki, issued a bench warrant on May 27 following the suspects’ repeated failure to appear for arraignment.

The case centers around Plots 461–470 and 486–496 in Sabon Lugbe East Layout, Abuja, originally owned by Etha Ventures.

The prosecution alleges that the suspects fraudulently secured a consent judgment to transfer ownership to Super Structures Limited, a company also named in the charge.

The police, through legal counsel David Kaswe, said the suspects used fake documents and colluded to mislead the court and dispossess the rightful owner of the land.

Despite earlier assurances by defense lawyers to produce the accused in court, they failed to appear across four adjournments, prompting the judge to reaffirm the arrest warrant.
