Deji Adeyanju on Peter Obi reveals he would vote Tinubu instead, citing intolerance from Obi’s supporters despite rejecting APC
Deji Adeyanju on Peter Obi has triggered a heated political conversation after openly declaring that, although he would never support the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he would still choose President Bola Tinubu over Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

Appearing on Channels Television on Friday morning, the outspoken human rights activist and lawyer explained that his decision was not an endorsement of the APC but rather a matter of conviction about democracy, tolerance, and political conduct.
Adeyanju criticized what he described as the toxic behavior of some Obi supporters, accusing them of resorting to name-calling whenever their candidate is criticized.
“Why would somebody like me support the APC? Support the APC for what? If the opposition presents Peter Obi, I will vote Tinubu,” Adeyanju stated.
He argued that a political movement rooted in intolerance and verbal attacks cannot drive Nigeria forward, stressing that democracy thrives on criticism and engagement.
Adeyanju added that the labeling of critics as “enemies of Nigeria” or “compromised” shows a worrying lack of openness, which in his view makes Obi’s camp difficult to support.
His statement has already stirred strong reactions across social and political circles, with many interpreting it as a bold rejection of what he sees as political extremism.
