Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule decries low voter registration, urging APC leaders to mobilize residents for the 2027 elections

Speaking on Wednesday during the official flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) grassroots sensitisation and voters’ education in Lafia, the state capital, Governor Sule, represented by his Deputy Emmanuel Akabe, highlighted that recent data shows the state’s voter registration is significantly below expectations.

He called on APC leaders and members to intensify efforts by reaching every community, encouraging residents to register to ensure they can exercise their voting rights in the 2027 general elections.

Governor Sule also congratulated the state APC Chairman, Aliyu Bello, and Secretary, Yairus Dagusa, on their second anniversary in office, commending their dedication and leadership.

“The charts clearly show that Nasarawa State is lagging behind other states in this CVR exercise. This is a crucial moment to mobilise our people at the grassroots,” Sule said.

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, praised the APC’s initiative to raise awareness about voter registration. He urged all residents to participate and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

“Our population is growing rapidly, yet voter registration remains low. This must change to reflect the true strength of our democracy,” Jatau remarked.

He further assured that the House of Assembly will continue enacting laws to support good governance across Nasarawa’s 13 Local Government Areas.

The APC Chairman, Aliyu Bello, reaffirmed the party’s unity by announcing their unanimous decision to back any governorship aspirant selected by Governor Sule to succeed him in 2027, regardless of the aspirant’s senatorial zone.

The CVR exercise began on August 25, 2025, and concluded on August 30, following an earlier online pre-registration phase.
