Oluremi Tinubu digital literacy efforts aim to bridge the digital divide and drive national development through inclusive access to knowledge

Oluremi Tinubu digital literacy advocacy took center stage on International Literacy Day as Nigeria’s First Lady reaffirmed her belief that literacy—especially digital skills—is the cornerstone of sustainable national development.

Speaking through a public statement, Senator Tinubu described a literate and digitally equipped population as the “foundation of boundless opportunities.”

Her remarks aligned with this year’s theme, “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era,” which she called both a challenge and an opportunity to empower youth, women, and underserved communities.

“As a lifelong educationist, I believe a literate population is the foundation of boundless opportunities, and in today’s world, it must include digital skills,” she said.

Senator Tinubu called on Nigerians to collectively bridge the digital exclusion gap, arguing that inclusivity in digital education is vital for building a prosperous and forward-looking society.

“When we as a people work together, we can close the gap of digital exclusion and open doors to a brighter, inclusive future for all Nigerians,” she added.

In a parallel development, the First Lady reiterated her commitment to eliminating tuberculosis (TB) by 2030, launching new molecular diagnostic machines in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

These machines, deployed under her Renewed Hope Initiative, aim to improve early detection and treatment of TB in hard-to-reach communities.

“Tuberculosis is curable,” Tinubu noted, “but far too many Nigerians are still dying—not because there’s no technology, but because access to diagnostics is limited.”

With her dual focus on education and healthcare, Senator Tinubu is positioning herself as a compassionate leader driving impactful change.

From promoting digital literacy to increasing access to medical technology, her initiatives highlight the power of inclusion in shaping Nigeria’s future.
