Egbuladike coalition remark dismisses Tinubu unseat bid

Egbuladike coalition remark rejects plans to unseat Tinubu as dead on arrival, urging Nigerians to back reforms and good governance

Egbuladike coalition remark has sparked debate after Chief Romanus Egbuladike, the first interim chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, described moves to unseat President Bola Tinubu as a distraction and “dead on arrival.”

In an interview on Monday, Egbuladike recalled how the APC itself emerged in 2013 through a well-structured coalition of five political parties that sacrificed their identities to challenge the Peoples Democratic Party’s 16-year dominance.

He stressed that the current coalition drive “does not hold water” because it lacks structure and inclusivity.

“Tinubu has only spent two years in office. His reforms are beginning to have positive impact on citizens. Prices of foodstuffs are going down; they are not skyrocketing. Reforms come with peace.

Let’s give the president a chance to concentrate on delivering good governance to Nigerians,” he said.

The APC chieftain argued that portraying coalition talks as urgent gives the impression Tinubu had overstayed, when in fact he has just begun his tenure.

He insisted that those pushing the agenda are either pursuing selfish interests or lack the nation’s best interest at heart.

Egbuladike also commended Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for completing the Awo-Omamma Junction–Okwudor Road in Oru East with modern streetlights.

He urged further investment by approving the construction of the 2.5km Nickben Road to link Eziawo 1, Awo-Omamma, Amiri, and Attah communities.

He praised both Uzodimma and Oru East legislator, Chigozie Nwaneri, for refurbishing the Daraocha water project, which has brought relief to residents.

On the Imo Charter of Equity, Egbuladike noted that while it fosters fairness in power-sharing, it should not be treated as automatic.

“The Charter of Equity is good because it brings justice, but it is not automatic. Power is not given, it is taken. If Owerri Zone wants to produce the next governor in 2027, it must work with Orlu and Okigwe zones and also field a credible candidate,” he said.

He stressed that competence, not zoning, will determine the choice of the electorate.

Egbuladike further applauded Uzodimma’s bold decision to pay the new N104,000 minimum wage, noting that it has spurred other states to review workers’ salaries.
