Nigeria Police fake recruitment alert dismissed as scam; force urges public to ignore misleading 2025 job ad, says real updates come from official sources

Nigeria Police fake recruitment alert has been firmly denied by the Nigeria Police Force, which has warned the public against falling victim to a fraudulent job notice circulating online.

The document, titled “Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Exercise 2025,” falsely claims that recruitment is open for applicants with SSCE, OND, HND, and B.Sc.

qualifications. It outlines supposed eligibility criteria, including age limits, physical fitness, and educational background, and claims an online application portal will launch on 23 September 2025.

On Thursday, the police used their verified X (formerly Twitter) account to debunk the announcement, branding the recruitment notice “FAKE” in bold red letters across the circulating image. The Force stressed that the message did not originate from any official channel.

The Nigeria Police fake recruitment alert was also addressed by the Police Service Commission (PSC), which had earlier issued a warning on 30 August 2025.

PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani stated clearly that no recruitment exercise had been declared for 2025, and that the forged document did not match the Commission’s standard communication style.

Ani added that the false advert was both misleading and illegal, cautioning the public to always verify information through official platforms.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated that any genuine recruitment drive would be publicly announced only via official government and police channels, such as the PSC website, the police’s verified social media handles, and national newspapers.

This incident adds to a growing number of employment-related scams targeting unsuspecting Nigerians. Authorities have advised job seekers to exercise vigilance and avoid submitting personal information or payment through unofficial websites.
