E1 Lagos GP, Africa’s first electric powerboat race, launches October 3–5 with Guinness and Singleton sponsorship, boosting Lagos tourism and culture

The event promises to fuse sport, culture, and innovation, attracting international attention and boosting Nigeria’s commercial capital.

With headline sponsorship from Guinness and Singleton Whiskey, the E1 Lagos GP will bring the world’s fastest electric boats to Lagos waters, positioning the city alongside international host destinations such as Monaco, Venice, and Jeddah.

Guinness and Singleton are also curating immersive cultural experiences, blending music, fashion, and creativity with the high-speed spectacle.

“For us at Guinness, Lagos is more than a city; it’s the heartbeat of African creativity, energy, and resilience,” said Yinka Bakare, Marketing and Innovation Director at Guinness Nigeria.

“Sponsoring the first E1 race in Africa is our way of showcasing Lagos’s global potential while creating unforgettable cultural experiences.”

The Lagos State Government anticipates more than \$100 million in total revenue from the event. Between 10,000 and 15,000 spectators are expected, including over 250 international participants.

Tourism receipts during peak days alone could reach \$15 million, excluding sponsorships, media rights, and vendor contracts.

Hotels across Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki, and Ikeja have already reported a surge in bookings, reflecting a broad economic ripple effect.

Beyond immediate earnings, the event will create employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in logistics, marine services, event production, fashion, and nightlife.

The E1 Lagos GP also aligns with Lagos State’s long-term vision to develop a sustainable blue economy, promoting electric propulsion and clean water sports.

“The forthcoming E1 Lagos GP is more than a sporting spectacle; it is another bold step in putting Lagos on the global map,” said Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.

“With the support of LASWA, LAWMA, the Marine Police, the Nigerian Navy, and the Nigeria Police Force, we are confident of delivering a safe and successful experience. Governor Sanwo-Olu remains resolute in ensuring this event becomes a lasting tourism asset.”

Singleton and Guinness aim to elevate the event into a lifestyle movement. Singleton will provide curated luxury whiskey experiences, while Guinness will showcase live music, art, and nightlife, highlighting Lagos as Africa’s cultural heartbeat.

By hosting the E1 Lagos GP, Lagos positions itself as a global destination for innovation-driven sports and sustainable urban development.
