Anambra Police foil crimes in a series of rapid, well-coordinated operations across the state, arresting three suspects connected to separate incidents involving vehicle theft, truck diversion, and child abduction.

Spokesperson of the State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the developments on Thursday, stating that the feats were achieved through improved patrol strategies and strong collaboration between community stakeholders and the police under Commissioner CP Ikioye Orutugu.

According to Ikenga, on 23 September 2025, operatives attached to Achalla Division, working alongside members of the Special Vigilante Taskforce, apprehended two male suspects, Chinwendu Ndieli and Uchenna Offodile, over the alleged theft of a Mack truck.

“The stolen truck, bearing registration number T 5003 LA, was recovered near St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Achalla. During interrogation, the suspects admitted that it had been stolen from a company in Lagos,” Ikenga stated.

The owner of the vehicle has been contacted and asked to present proper documentation for verification and recovery.

In a similar operation carried out by Okpoko Division on the same day, police discovered an abandoned Toyota Camry Spider along the Onitsha–Owerri Road, opposite Tiger Fruit Company.

The vehicle bore Anambra plate AWK 91 SR, with an additional Delta plate 06A 90 DT found inside.

The car has since been secured at the station for safekeeping and identification by the rightful owner.

Meanwhile, in Ihiala, a third suspect, Charles Chiemerie Onuigbo, was arrested with help from local youths in Akwa village over the abduction of three children, aged six, three, and two.

“Initial reports indicate that the children were kidnapped while eating in front of their house.

The mother stepped away momentarily to fetch more food and returned to find them missing,” said Ikenga.

Charles, a neighbour of the victims, had allegedly been harbouring two other accomplices, now at large.

The suspect was attacked by an angry mob before being rescued by police.

Police confirmed that the children are still missing and that efforts are ongoing to **track down the fleeing suspects and safely recover the minors.

“The command remains calm and continues intensified operations including counter-terrorism and crime prevention strategies,” Ikenga assured.
