Five people were killed in a daring Onireke Ojo robbery attack opposite Ojo Barracks as gunmen shot sporadically before escaping
A daring robbery attack at Onireke bus stop, opposite Ojo Barracks in Lagos, left at least five people dead on Friday evening, sending shockwaves through the usually bustling area.

Eyewitnesses said the armed robbers stormed the area, shooting sporadically and dispossessing passersby of cash and valuables at gunpoint.
The attack, which occurred in broad daylight, reportedly lasted for about 30 minutes before the gang fled the scene.
A security guard who witnessed the incident said the police station opposite Ojo Barracks and nearby military personnel tried to respond but were outpaced by the robbers.
“They started shooting suddenly, and everyone ran in different directions. The operation lasted about 30 minutes. Before police and soldiers could reinforce, they had escaped,” the witness recounted.
Residents of the area were still in shock and fear as of press time, wondering how such a violent robbery could happen so close to Ojo Barracks widely regarded as the largest military cantonment in Africa.
The robbers were said to have snatched money, phones, and other valuables from victims before fleeing in an unmarked vehicle.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but security patrols around Onireke and the Ojo axis have reportedly been increased to prevent further attacks.
