Shehu Sani on politician qualifications

Shehu Sani warns political aspirants on false academic claims, urging honesty about politician qualifications to avoid unnecessary troubles

Shehu Sani on politician qualifications has issued a strong warning to political aspirants, stressing that all one needs to contest elections or secure a political appointment in Nigeria is a secondary school certificate.

The former Kaduna Central Senator’s comments come amid controversy over Minister Uche Nnaji’s disputed academic credentials.

Sani’s caution follows an investigative report that revealed the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, disowned the Bachelor of Science degree certificate claimed by Minister Uche Nnaji, stating he never completed his studies there.

Court documents further confirm that Nnaji admitted to not having been issued a degree by the institution.

The politician filed a suit against the Minister of Education, the National Universities Commission, and the University of Nigeria to compel the release of his academic transcript.

However, the Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned the case to October 6 for further hearing.

Highlighting the dangers of fabricating qualifications, Shehu Sani warned that political contenders often attract unnecessary troubles when they make false claims about their education.

“There is no way in the realm of politics one can claim any unearned qualifications without opponents digging into the matter,” he said.

His powerful message urges transparency and integrity among Nigeria’s political hopefuls.
