Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja honoured posthumously by USAWC, recognising his exceptional leadership and contribution to military professionalism and peace

Late Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja honoured posthumously by the United States Army War College (USAWC) for his outstanding military service and leadership.

The late 23rd Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army was inducted into the prestigious International Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Monday, October 13, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Centre in Washington D.C.

The honour recognises General Lagbaja’s exceptional achievements as an alumnus who rose meritoriously to the highest rank within the Nigerian Army.

The USAWC’s Commandant, Major General Trevor J. Bredenkamp, presented the award in a solemn yet colourful ceremony, lauding the late General’s visionary service, sterling leadership, and significant contributions to military professionalism and global peace.

Major General Adeleke Ayannuga received the award on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, alongside Mrs Maria Abiodun Lagbaja, representing the late general’s family.

Lieutenant General Oluyede expressed profound pride in this distinguished recognition, emphasising its role in immortalising the legacy of one of Nigeria’s most illustrious military leaders.

This accolade not only honours the memory of Lieutenant General Lagbaja but also reinforces the Nigerian Army’s dedication to upholding universal values of professionalism, discipline, and commitment to international peace and security.
