Brentford beat Liverpool 3–2 at the Gtech Stadium, deepening the Reds’ league woes as Arne Slot’s side suffer a fourth straight Premier League defeat

Brentford vs Liverpool ended in a dramatic 3–2 win for the hosts at the Gtech Community Stadium, deepening Liverpool’s Premier League crisis under manager Arne Slot.

Coming off a midweek Champions League triumph over Eintracht Frankfurt, the Reds had hoped to revive their domestic form, but defensive lapses once again cost them dearly.

Brentford took the lead inside five minutes when Dango Ouattara pounced on Kristoffer Ajer’s flick from Michael Kayode’s long throw, firing home from close range.

The hosts continued to dominate, and their persistence paid off just before half-time. Mikkel Damsgaard split Liverpool’s defence with a precise through-ball, allowing Kevin Schade to slot past Giorgi Mamardashvili and make it 2–0.

Liverpool found a lifeline in first-half stoppage time when Milos Kerkez curled a low strike beyond Mark Flekken, briefly sparking hopes of a comeback.

However, Brentford restored their two-goal cushion after the break. Following a VAR review, Virgil van Dijk was penalised for fouling Ouattara near the edge of the box, and Igor Thiago converted confidently from the spot to make it 3–1.

Although Mohamed Salah pulled one back late on with a well-taken finish, Liverpool’s efforts were not enough to avoid their fourth consecutive league defeat, further intensifying the pressure on Arne Slot.

The result leaves Liverpool sixth in the Premier League table, four points adrift of leaders Arsenal, while Brentford climb to 10th, celebrating their fourth league win of the season in front of an ecstatic home crowd.

For the Bees, this victory was a statement of intent; for Liverpool, it was another worrying reminder of a team struggling to find balance and belief.
