Celebrity outrage grows as top Nigerian entertainers condemn the Kwara and Kebbi attacks and urge government to act decisively on worsening insecurity

A wave of celebrity outrage swept through X on Wednesday as several high-profile Nigerian entertainers condemned the deadly attacks in Kwara and Kebbi States, urging the government to take decisive action against the country’s escalating insecurity.

Their reactions followed confirmation by the Kwara State Police Command that suspected bandits killed at least two people and injured one during an attack in Eruku, a boundary town in Ekiti Local Government Area.

A parish of the Christ Apostolic Church was invaded mid-service, with a harrowing livestream of the incident circulating widely online.

Tension deepened after reports emerged of a pre-dawn assault on the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko Wasagu, Kebbi State, where 25 students were abducted and a staff member was killed.

Comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, expressed frustration at the worsening security climate.

He wrote that Nigeria was “turning into a crime scene”, citing the stream of church attacks, school kidnappings and targeted killings. He said the nation needed safety, accountability and real action rather than silence.

Rapper and actor Folarin Falana, known as Falz, also questioned President Bola Tinubu’s handling of insecurity.

In his post, he asked how many more people had to be “kidnapped and murdered in cold blood” before urgent steps were taken.

Skit maker Debo Adedayo, professionally called Mr Macaroni, described the situation as “madness”.

He warned Nigerians not to downplay attacks happening in other regions, stressing that terrorism affects everyone regardless of location.

He further criticised the absence of a presidential address in the wake of the latest killings and abductions.

Actress Funke Akindele said she was left heartbroken after watching the viral church livestream, particularly the image of an elderly woman struggling to flee.

She called the scenes “sad and disturbing”, noting that the victims were innocent citizens caught unawares.

Influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa said the video served as a painful reminder that such attacks could happen to anyone, stressing that no one was immune.

Actress Kate Henshaw placed the blame squarely on leadership, insisting that Nigeria’s land was not the problem but rather those entrusted with ensuring the safety of lives and property. She described Nigerian children as “an endangered species”.

Medical doctor and social media personality Chinonso Egemba, also known as Aproko Doctor, condemned the killings as terrorism and said the loss of life was a direct consequence of government failure.

He insisted Nigerians had a right to live and demanded that authorities act immediately.

As outrage grows, the government is under mounting pressure to address the country’s protracted security crisis, with citizens and public figures alike demanding concrete measures rather than rhetoric.
