Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on X that Mbappé “didn’t train with the Real Madrid squad, and he’s a doubt to face Manchester City.” The club has not disclosed whether his absence is due to injury or a precautionary measure.
Mbappé has been pivotal for Madrid this season, netting 16 goals in La Liga and nine in the 2025–26 Champions League campaign.
His potential absence will concern fans and analysts ahead of a high-stakes clash against Manchester City and their prolific striker, Erling Haaland.
The Los Blancos suffered a setback on Sunday, losing 2–0 at the Santiago Bernabéu to Celta Vigo.
The defeat marked Madrid’s first home loss of the season and their first in 19 years to Celta at the Bernabéu, increasing the importance of Wednesday’s fixture.
