More than 130 residents of Ogun State have reportedly regained their sight through a free medical mission sponsored by Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as the former governor marks the 25th anniversary of the Gateway Front Foundation (GFF) with a humanitarian healthcare intervention.
The GFF@25 Free Medical Outreach, taking place at Redeemer’s Health Village in Mowe, brings specialist medical professionals from the United States to provide eye surgeries, gynaecological procedures, orthopaedic interventions, as well as major and minor surgical operations.

The initiative is organised in partnership with Sharing Hope Medical Mission of the United States, Sharing Hope and Care Foundation, and Redeemer’s Health Village.
According to the organisers, Daniel committed personal resources to the programme to help residents who might otherwise struggle to afford specialist medical treatment.
The outreach also offers free consultations, medications and other essential healthcare services.
For beneficiaries whose sight has been restored or improved, the intervention could make a significant difference to their independence, confidence and ability to carry out everyday activities.
Beyond the surgical procedures at Mowe, routine healthcare services are being decentralised to designated centres across participating local government areas to bring medical assistance closer to communities.
The outreach forms part of activities marking 25 years of the Gateway Front Foundation, which has focused on supporting vulnerable people and improving livelihoods.
Other reported anniversary initiatives cover agriculture, education and microcredit support.
The medical mission has become a prominent feature of the anniversary programme, particularly through its provision of specialist treatment at no cost to beneficiaries.
Such procedures can place considerable financial pressure on patients and their families when accessed independently.
As the programme continues, organisers expect more Ogun residents to benefit from the medical services.
The initiative highlights the humanitarian dimension of the foundation’s silver-jubilee celebrations, with the organisers seeking to translate the milestone into practical support for residents in need of healthcare.

However, the reported figure of more than 130 people regaining their sight and the full number of beneficiaries expected to receive treatment were not independently verified in the supplied report.
