Makama, citing police sources, said about forty-three gunmen stormed Adabka Village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area at around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and opened fire, killing a forty-five-year-old man instantly.
His body was later transported to a hospital for autopsy before being released to his family for burial in line with Islamic rites.
He added that an investigation had begun and that efforts were under way to track down the perpetrators.
The assault caused significant panic in the area, and residents said the swift, indiscriminate gunfire created a terrifying scene.
Less than an hour after the Adabka incident, another armed group attacked Mashayar Zaki Village along the Gusau–Dansadau Road in Maru Local Government Area.
One resident was killed and three others were injured before the attackers fled.
Survivors reportedly sought help from nearby settlements as anxiety spread across the region.
Attempts to reach the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful, as calls rang out and messages had not been returned at the time of filing this report.
