Man Utd throw lead three times in 4-4 thrilling draw with Bournemouth

United have lost just once in their last 10 league games, but manager Ruben Amorim will be frustrated after dropping more points at home despite a lively attacking display.

Amad Diallo and Casemiro gave the Red Devils a half-time lead, with Antoine Semenyo equalising for Bournemouth in between the goals.

The visitors then struck twice within seven minutes early in the second half through Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier, turning the game on its head.

United responded, with a brilliant Bruno Fernandes free-kick and Matheus Cunha’s second club goal restoring a 4-3 lead.

However, Eli Junior Kroupi’s late finish secured a point for Bournemouth, who were nearly denied victory in stoppage time as David Brooks was twice denied by goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

The Cherries remain winless in seven games but move up to 13th, while United climb above Liverpool on goal difference into sixth.

Despite the draw, Amorim will be encouraged by the performance of his attacking line, which finally showed cohesion.

United took the lead early through Diallo’s header into an empty net after Petrovic could only parry Cunha’s effort.

Bryan Mbeumo, appearing for the last time before the Africa Cup of Nations, narrowly missed for Bournemouth.

Defensively, United suffered in the absence of injured Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt, allowing Bournemouth to equalise through Semenyo after Luke Shaw was easily dispossessed.

Casemiro had given United a second-half lead with a header from Fernandes’ corner, but Bournemouth hit back swiftly.

Evanilson scored just 37 seconds after the restart before Tavernier added a free-kick from the edge of the area.

United restored the lead through Fernandes’ stunning free-kick and Cunha’s tap-in, but Kroupi’s late strike ensured a share of the spoils.

Only two excellent stops from Lammens in stoppage time prevented a sensational Bournemouth victory in a chaotic Monday evening at Old Trafford.
