Nigeria’s Super Falcons unveiled the Super Falcons 10-star jersey, with head coach Justin Madugu and the country’s record-winning women’s national team celebrating a historic symbol of African football dominance ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The newly designed kit features 10 stars placed around the team badge, with each star representing one of Nigeria’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumphs.

The release underlines the Super Falcons’ remarkable legacy as the most successful team in the competition’s history.

The special jersey made its first appearance during Nigeria’s 2-1 international friendly victory over Tanzania’s Twiga Stars, giving supporters an early glimpse of the outfit the team will wear during its title defence.

The Nigeria Football Federation and the Super Falcons have presented the design as a tribute to generations of players who helped build the team’s reputation across Africa.

The achievement reflects decades of consistency, from Nigeria’s first continental success in 1998 to the latest championship secured in 2024.

The team’s 10th African title strengthened its position at the top of women’s football on the continent, while also increasing expectations ahead of the next tournament. Nigeria will arrive in Morocco aiming to add an 11th WAFCON crown to its record.

Speaking about the team’s ambitions, coach Justin Madugu emphasised the importance of respecting Nigeria’s history while focusing on the challenge ahead.

“We know the responsibility that comes with wearing this badge. The past achievements motivate us, but we must work hard for every match,” Madugu said.

The Super Falcons will begin their 2026 WAFCON campaign against tournament debutants Malawi at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday.

The tournament also offers teams the opportunity to compete for continental recognition and strengthen their preparations for future global competitions.

Beyond its symbolic value, the 10-star jersey represents a powerful connection between the current squad and former Nigerian players who established the country’s dominance in African women’s football.

The design serves as both a celebration of past victories and a reminder of the expectations surrounding the team.

Nigeria’s pursuit of another title comes as other African nations continue to invest heavily in women’s football, creating a more competitive environment for the Super Falcons.

While the team remains the benchmark, the road to another championship will require focus, discipline and resilience.

As Morocco prepares to host the 2026 tournament, the Super Falcons will carry the weight of history on their shirts and the hopes of millions of Nigerian supporters seeking another memorable chapter in the country’s football story.
