JMG equips NIPCO stations with hybrid solar systems, saving ₦44.4M annually and reducing 43.8 tonnes of CO₂ emissions

JMG Limited, Nigeria’s integrated electromechanical energy provider, has successfully commissioned solar power systems at three major NIPCO Plc fuel stations in Gwagwalada, Lekki, and Mpape. The initiative delivers reliable clean energy, eliminating diesel reliance and generating over ₦44 million in annual savings.

The installations employ advanced hybrid systems combining solar arrays, lithium battery storage, and smart inverters, providing 24/7 electricity for pumps, lighting, and office operations. Each station has reported zero use of grid or generator power since the systems were commissioned.

“We are proud to help NIPCO lead the energy transition at the retail level,” said Abbass Hussein, Head of JMG’s Hybrid Solar Division.

“This project demonstrates that high-energy sectors can adopt clean, resilient energy without compromising performance.”

The three stations now operate entirely on hybrid solar systems that integrate high-efficiency PV panels, intelligent lithium batteries, and smart inverters.

The scalable architecture has delivered significant results, producing 88,535 kWh annually, saving ₦44.4 million in energy costs, and reducing CO₂ emissions by 43.8 tonnes.

Idoko Jacob, NIPCO Station Manager at Gwagwalada, noted: “Since commissioning, the stations have not relied on electricity or generator power during bright weather. On cloudy days, we supplement with generators to ensure uninterrupted operations.”

Details of the installations include:

  • Gwagwalada Station: 42,450 kWh/year, ₦15.6 million saved, 15,332.76 kg CO₂ avoided, system includes 20kW Deye LV Hybrid Inverter, 26.8kWp Solar PV, 51.2kWh lithium battery.
  • Lekki Station: 3,635 kWh/year, ₦12 million saved, 13,130.1 kg CO₂ avoided, system includes 25kW Must Hybrid Inverter, 22.95kWp Solar PV, 76.8kWh lithium battery.
  • Mpape Station: 42,450 kWh/year, ₦16.8 million saved, 15,332.76 kg CO₂ avoided, system includes 20kW Deye LV Hybrid Inverter, 26.8kWp Solar PV, 61.44kWh lithium battery.

The hybrid systems allow the stations to operate independently of the grid for most of the day. Excess solar production is stored in batteries, while smart inverters ensure seamless transitions, reducing generator use to near zero.

Hussein added: “Collaborating with NIPCO shows a practical pathway for other firms to reduce both emissions and energy expenses while maintaining operational efficiency.”

JMG Limited continues to provide reliable and scalable solar solutions for residential and commercial clients, delivering clean, cost-effective, and uninterrupted energy.
