Embrace Global Church has emerged champions of the GLOWFUX @10 Novelty Charity Football Match, defeating Jimi Benson iCare Foundation in a dramatic penalty shootout.
The match, organised as the final activity marking the 10th anniversary of GLOWFUX Charity Concert, brought together children and teenagers from various beneficiary homes, foundations and grassroots football academies.
The event focused on unity, teamwork, talent discovery and healthy competition. It attracted distinguished personalities, representatives of supporting organisations, sports enthusiasts and media practitioners.
Among the guests were Alhaja Zainab Alogba, wife of the Chief Judge of Lagos State; the Education Secretary of Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, and his wife, Alhaja Olabisi Odumbo; as well as Mrs Naomi Popoola, representing Embrace Global Church.
Participating homes and organisations included Record Rate Academy, Child LifeLine Orphanage, Divine Heritage Orphanage Home, Little Saints Orphanage Home, Fortune Soccer Academy, Hikanos Orphanage Home, Excellent Child Support Initiative, Rescue Children Orphanage, Lofty Skills Academy and Ayodeji Foundation.
The young participants were grouped into five teams representing organisations supporting the concert: Jimi Benson iCare Foundation, Embrace Global Church, Primero Transport Services, CINI Holdings and Courteville Business Solutions.
Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo performed the ceremonial kick-off. Embrace Global Church advanced through the stages, eventually prevailing 4-3 on penalties against Jimi Benson iCare Foundation in the final after a goalless regulation time.
Project Coordinator of GLOWFUX @10, Miss Chisom Oparaugo, said the novelty match was included to give children from beneficiary homes an opportunity to interact, showcase their abilities and experience organised sporting competition.
Technical coordination was handled by Mr Bola Yusuf, Founder of Lofty Skills Academy. Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo and Mrs Naomi Popoola both commended the initiative for providing a platform for the children.
The event enjoyed support from UAC Foods, Beloxxi Biscuits and Peak Milk, whose products were distributed to guests and participants.
The 10th anniversary is themed “A Decade of Changing Lives, One Story At A Time”. The grand celebration is scheduled for Monday, December 28, 2026, at Ikorodu Town Hall.
