Portable accused Mavo of depending on technology rather than skill, questioning his live band performances and contrasting him unfavourably with his own signees.
“Mavo uses auto-tune. I’ve been seeing some celebrities associating and collaborating with you. You now went to do a live band. Is that how to perform? Even my signees sing better than you. Your live performance is shambolic. That’s not how to use a live band. I blame the superstars who overlook real talents and support overhyped wack artists,” Portable wrote.
The singer’s remarks have reignited debate within the Nigerian music scene about the use of auto-tune and the quality of live performances.
Mavo has not yet responded to the criticism.
