Tinubu mourns Chukwueze’s mother as the President offers condolences to the Super Eagles star and his family over the sad loss

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday expressed his deepest sympathies to Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze following the death of his mother, Mrs Sarah Chukwueze, describing the loss as a painful blow to the Nigerian football family.

In a statement issued in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President extended heartfelt condolences to the Chukwueze family, friends and associates over the passing of the footballer’s mother earlier on Thursday.

President Tinubu said the death was particularly saddening as it came at a time when the Super Eagles community was still grieving another personal loss involving a senior national team player.

“The passing of Mrs Chukwueze, the mother of one of our bright football stars, just a few days after the passing of Super Eagles Captain Wilfred Ndidi’s father, is deeply saddening,” the President said.

He noted that the back to back tragedies had placed an emotional burden on the national team players, assuring the affected families of his personal support and spiritual solidarity during the difficult period.

President Tinubu said he shared in the grief of the Chukwueze family and stood with them in prayers, describing the moment as one that called for national compassion and unity.

“I mourn with them, and I am with them in prayers during this difficult time,” the President added.

In a message of comfort, the President encouraged the family to draw strength from the life and values of their late matriarch, urging them to find peace in the legacy she left behind.

He prayed for the repose of the soul of Mrs Sarah Chukwueze, asking God to grant her eternal rest and comfort all who mourn her passing.

The death of Mrs Chukwueze comes less than 48 hours after Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi lost his father, Sunday Ndidi, in a tragic road accident, deepening a sombre mood within the national football community.
