The commissioning ceremony drew senior Rotary officials, government representatives, medical personnel, and community leaders.

The project involved comprehensive refurbishment of hospital facilities, including the replacement of old windows with aluminium frames, fresh exterior painting, and installation of 41 new hospital beds across private and general wards.

Critical medical equipment such as wheelchairs and crutches were also donated.

Speaking at the event, Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro, Gbolahan Adeyinka, described the intervention as the culmination of three years of sustained commitment by successive club administrations.

“By the time I assumed office, we moved the project to the site, and today I am proud to see it come to fruition. This initiative is a testament to our dedication to community healthcare,” Adeyinka said.

Rotary International District 9112 Governor, Lanre Adedoyin, hailed the project as a model intervention aligning with the organisation’s seven areas of focus.

“This initiative is impactful, sustainable, and relevant to the needs of the community. It sets a high standard for Rotary service projects,” Adedoyin stated.

Representing the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Permanent Secretary Dr Abimbola Mabogunje commended the club for its humanitarian efforts.

“Government cannot do it all, and this intervention significantly improves conditions for patients and staff. The club’s efforts are deeply appreciated,” Mabogunje said.

Rotarian Alexander Chukwu, the club’s United President, explained that the project aimed to improve patient care and working conditions for health professionals.

“Emergency cases were previously turned away due to inadequate space. With the new facilities, healthcare delivery at General Hospital Odan has been transformed,” Chukwu said.
