Kano governor appointments boost governance with fresh key roles and promotions across the state’s civil service and anti-corruption institutions
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has approved a fresh round of appointments and promotions across key government institutions in the state, according to a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa.

The appointments include Abubakar Matawalle as Acting Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board and Rahama Alhaji as Provost of the Kano State Anti-Corruption Institute.
Yusuf Mukhtar has been promoted to the rank of Permanent Secretary, while veteran Kannywood actress Aina’u Ade has advanced from Special Assistant to Senior Special Assistant on Kannywood Affairs.
Dawakin-Tofa highlighted Matawalle’s extensive experience in civil service, noting that he previously served as Executive Secretary of the Pilgrims Welfare Board and as Permanent Secretary, Establishment, before retiring in 2014.
Rahama Alhaji was described as a highly accomplished legal practitioner with a record in litigation, corporate law, and regulatory compliance, reflecting the governor’s commitment to strengthening anti-corruption institutions.
The spokesperson added that Aina’u Ade’s promotion follows her outstanding contributions in her previous role, and Abdulkadir Kankarofi was appointed as Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs in the Office of the Executive Governor.
Governor Yusuf urged all appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them through hard work, transparency, and loyalty to the Kano First Agenda.
The appointments and promotions take immediate effect and aim to enhance governance and service delivery across the state.
