New Plateau Police Commissioner Bassey Ewah vows to restore peace, boost security, and partner citizens to fight crime

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Plateau State, Bassey Ewah, has vowed to build on the existing peace in the state and ensure the safety of all residents.

During his maiden press briefing on Thursday, Ewah emphasized that “it will not be business as usual” under his leadership. He highlighted the importance of collaboration with other security agencies and the public to tackle security challenges effectively.

“We will work with the good people of Plateau State to identify and address security challenges, and we will not rest until we achieve our goals,” he said.

Ewah also stressed professionalism and discipline among police officers, urging them to “bring their best game forward” to restore Plateau State’s reputation as the Home of Peace and Tourism.

His appointment was announced by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun on February 3, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen law enforcement in Plateau State.
