FCT Police arrest nine suspects over Jikwoyi robbery, recover vehicles and valuables, and expand probe to track stolen car receivers

Police officers from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have arrested nine suspects in connection with a Jikwoyi robbery, recovering stolen vehicles and household valuables after a cross-border operation into Nasarawa State.

The arrest followed a report that on 18 January 2026, armed robbers broke into a residence in Jikwoyi, carting away personal belongings, an unspecified sum of money, and a Toyota Corolla.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh said in a statement on Friday that operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad launched an intelligence-driven investigation which led to the suspects’ hideout in Nasarawa on 26 January.

The group was allegedly planning another robbery in the Asokoro area of the FCT at the time of arrest.

Those arrested are Mohammed Yanusa, 21; Abubakar Mohammed, 20; Isah Salihu, 18; Nura Zakare, 20; John Paul Itodo, 62; Augustin Daudu, 30; Musbau Ali, 32; Innocent Omale, 44; and Usman Mohammed, 22.

Items recovered include multiple laptops, television sets, generators, solar batteries, a DJ mixer, speakers, wine bottles, a home theatre system, a knife, and three vehicles.

The vehicles are a grey Toyota Camry, an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla matching the one stolen in the Jikwoyi robbery, and another ash-coloured Toyota Camry.

Adeh said the suspects reportedly confessed to selling stolen vehicles to receivers in Kaduna and Kano states for between ₦550,000 and ₦650,000. Investigations have been widened to apprehend those receivers.

The suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations, Adeh added, urging residents to report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines.
