Two convicts, Muhammad Maina and Yakubu Adamu, were sentenced to death by hanging for armed robbery. Seven others, including Shehu Isa, Adamu Adamu (aka Nalele), Mohammed Bello, Kabiru Ahmed, Muhammad Jibrin (aka Al-Amin), Usman Bello (aka Maigamo), and Manu Umaru (aka Alhaji Manu), received life imprisonment without the option of a fine for various serious crimes.

Eleven individuals convicted of fraud received three-month jail terms, while other convicts were given prison sentences ranging from three months to ten years, some with fines ranging between N10,000 and N500,000, depending on the severity of their offences.

The rulings, delivered in the last quarter of 2025, were handed down under the Penal Code, the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, and the Bauchi State Penal Code, 2022.

The judiciary emphasized the need for strict punishments as a deterrent, particularly against kidnapping, which remains a security challenge in the state.

“The Bauchi State Judiciary remains resolute in its duty to ensure justice and to complement government efforts aimed at tackling crime and safeguarding the public,” Umar said.
