In a statement issued on Tuesday, Babalola said Disu’s elevation by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reflects recognition of his professionalism, operational competence and years of meritorious service in the Nigeria Police Force.

Babalola noted that Disu has built an impressive career marked by leadership across critical operational units nationwide.

He highlighted Disu’s tenure as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos, where he led strategic interventions that strengthened crime response and enhanced public safety.

Disu also previously headed the Intelligence Response Team in Abuja, one of the Police Force’s most tactical and intelligence-driven units tasked with combating armed robbery,

kidnapping and organised crime. According to Babalola, that assignment produced significant breakthroughs in crime detection and suppression.

The Acting IGP further served as Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory Command, where he coordinated security operations within the nation’s capital and reinforced the territory’s security architecture.

According to Babalola, Disu’s diverse operational background across elite tactical formations and strategic command positions has adequately prepared him for the responsibility of leading the Police Force.

“TMnews Magazine proudly congratulates Acting Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu. He is a tested and trusted officer, a man of integrity and a dedicated professional who has consistently demonstrated excellence in policing and national service.

His leadership from the Lagos RRS to the Intelligence Response Team and as CP FCT reflects his capacity to lead with courage, discipline and vision,” the statement read.

TMnews Magazine expressed confidence that the Disu IGP appointment would usher in enhanced professionalism, improved operational efficiency and strengthened public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
