Fuji singer Shanko Rasheed mourns the death of his first son, Jamaldeen Atanda, sharing his grief and prayers on Instagram

Nigerian Fuji musician Shanko Rasheed Atanda has announced the death of his first son, Jamaldeen Atanda. The announcement was made on Friday via the singer’s Instagram account.

In a heartfelt message, Shanko Rasheed expressed profound sorrow, noting the pain of losing a child as a suffering no parent wishes to endure.

He prayed for his son’s peaceful rest but did not provide details regarding the circumstances or timing of Jamaldeen’s passing.

“So sad, no parent prays to lose a child in their lifetime, but Alhamdulilahi Jamaldeen Emrs Atanda JNR rest well my champ. I will surely tell you all about it when I see you again. Omo Ola sun reeee,” Shanko wrote.

The post drew an outpouring of sympathy on social media, with fans, colleagues, and figures in the entertainment industry offering messages of support during his time of grief.

The tragic loss comes only a few months after Shanko Rasheed celebrated Jamaldeen’s 12th birthday in December. At the time, he had shared a touching tribute to his son, praising the joy and pride Jamaldeen brought into his life.

“Happy Birthday to my amazing first son! You changed my life the moment you arrived and continue to make me proud every single day. I love the young man you’re becoming,” Shanko had written. “Watching you grow has been my greatest joy. Keep shining, keep dreaming, and keep being the incredible person you are. So proud of you.”

The loss of Jamaldeen Atanda marks a deeply personal tragedy for Shanko Rasheed, drawing attention to the vulnerability and heartbreak that public figures may face behind their professional lives.
