Benue Governor Samuel Ortom has promised to tackle the persistent attacks by Fulani herdsmen in the state he governs.

Ortom said it is time to stop whinning and act against herdsmen.

On Saturday, at the state government house, the Governor spoke during the media conference.

He emphasized that his administration would take steps to protect the state’s people against murderous herdsmen.

Ortom also added that his administration, despite herdsmen attacks, would not abolish the anti-open grazing law in the state.

He said his administration would rather be forced to reinforce the law against open grazing.

Ortom said: “A few weeks ago, Benue stakeholders met and gave this administration the mandate to activate and implement the Community Volunteer Guards Law enacted in 2000.

“We have already commenced the process of recruiting responsible people of 50 years and below into the Volunteer Guards.

“Their duty is to support the conventional security agencies in defending their communities. We have cried enough. We will cry no more. Now is time for action.”

Meanwhile, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has vowed to go after the Buhari administration and expose the ills with the government.

According to him, people who are seeking to shut him up from speaking out his mind in criticizing the ruling government, especially on issues that affect the country, should ensure that they serve the people of the country justice, fairness and equity.

Ortom spoke at the commissioning ceremony of the 65km Moniya-Ijaiye-Iseyin which held at Akinyele local government secretariat, Moniya, Ibadan. he made it known that he stands for justice and transparency.

In his words: “Oyo and indeed the Yoruba nation have always stood with and supported the oppressed and have always been the voice of the oppressed in the country right from the inception.

“That is what I stand for. I seek for justice, equity and fairness. For those who feel that Samuel Ortom is talking too much, I want to appeal to them, to give me justice, give our people justice, give our people fairness and ensure equity. I promise you that I will never say anything again.”

“Let me once again call on the APC led Federal Government to rise up and give leadership. Our people are in pains.

“From the North-East, North Central, North-West, South-South, South East and Southwest, everyone is faced with security challenges. Without security, there can be no meaningful development except in PDP controlled states.
