Kola Onifoto death sparks tributes after Nigerian photographer and biker dies from injuries sustained in a Lagos motorcycle crash

Popular Nigerian photographer and biker, Orowole Kolapoz, widely known as Kola Onifoto, has died following injuries sustained in a lone motorcycle accident in Lagos. He was 32.

Family sources and close associates confirmed that Orowole Kolapoz was involved in the crash on Sunday during what he had described as his first solo motorcycle trip outside Lagos State.

The travel enthusiast and brand influencer had earlier shared on his official Facebook page that he was heading to Akure on his motorcycle.

Friends disclosed that the injured photographer was initially rushed to the emergency unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps at 7UP, Ojota, before being transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, where supporters closely monitored updates on his condition.

Orowole Kolapoz later succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Monday, triggering an emotional wave of tributes across social media platforms as followers mourned the sudden loss.

The Kola Onifoto death prompted heartfelt reactions from friends and admirers who described him as passionate, adventurous and deeply supportive of online communities.

Several mourners recalled his advocacy for creatives and his enthusiasm for travel and motorcycling.

A Facebook user, Georgiana Onyinye, wrote that despite prayers and hope for recovery, the photographer fought bravely before losing the battle for survival.

Others, including Victoria Ayagwu and Emmanuel Collins, expressed shock at the tragedy, noting the strong connection many followers felt through his writings and public engagements.

In January, Orowole Kolapoz had celebrated achieving his long held dream of becoming a biker, sharing photographs beside his newly acquired motorcycle, a milestone that followers widely applauded at the time.

Details surrounding the precise cause of the accident remain unclear.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Lagos Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps were unsuccessful, as spokesperson Oluwadamilola Jayeola had not responded to calls or text messages as of press time.

The sudden passing of the young creative has renewed conversations about motorcycle safety and the risks associated with long distance riding, particularly among Nigeria’s growing biking community.
