Kaduna APC two million votes target set as Uba Sani and Tajudeen Abbas charge new party executives ahead of the 2027 elections

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, Tajudeen Abbas, on Tuesday charged the newly elected State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State to secure no fewer than two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

The directive followed the emergence of Isaac Atiku Sankay as consensus chairman during the party’s state congress held at Murtala Muhammed Square.

Sankay, born in 1983 and currently serving as Special Adviser on Peace and Conflict Resolution to the governor, was adopted after consultations among party stakeholders across the 23 local government areas of the state.

Addressing delegates, Governor Sani described the congress as a defining moment for party consolidation, saying the exercise demonstrated unity and internal discipline within the Kaduna chapter of the APC.

“This congress reflects our internal cohesion and democratic discipline. It shows that Kaduna APC is united and prepared for the future,” Sani said.

The governor disclosed that 6,885 ward executives emerged from congresses conducted across the state’s 255 wards, while 621 local government executives were elected from the 23 councils.

According to him, 36 members of the State Executive Committee were subsequently affirmed and sworn in, reinforcing what he described as the party’s strong grassroots presence.

Sani maintained that adopting consensus candidates reflected political maturity rather than weakness, stressing that mobilisation efforts must begin immediately at polling unit level in alignment with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In his remarks, Abbas urged the new leadership to reconcile all factions and intensify grassroots engagement ahead of the next electoral cycle.

“You must deliver over two million votes for President Tinubu and the same for Governor Uba Sani in 2027. That is the task before you,” the Speaker said, expressing confidence that the target was achievable based on previous electoral victories.

In his acceptance speech, Sankay pledged disciplined leadership and measurable performance, promising to strengthen internal democracy while expanding participation among youths and women within the party structure.

Outgoing State Chairman, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (retd.), thanked party members for their support throughout his eight-year tenure, stating that he was handing over a more united and formidable political platform.
