Lagos Information Commissioner Gbenga Omotosho allegedly assures a BRT lady clouter of government escorts after she claimed harassment while filming delays in the Lagos BRT system.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, has allegedly assured a woman known on social media for filming delays in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that government officials could accompany her during future rides to ensure her safety.
The assurance followed an alleged incident in which the woman claimed she was harassed while recording a video about delays and operational challenges within the Lagos BRT system.
In a recorded conversation circulating online, Omotosho was heard speaking with the woman and offering reassurance over the situation. According to the audio, the commissioner suggested that the presence of government officials during her trips could help prevent further harassment.
“If they’re against you, and they’re trying to harass you. Maybe they think they’re defending the government. Now, when they see the government beside you, they’ll know that you’ve not done anything wrong,” Omotosho was heard to have said.
The woman, who has gained attention online for documenting long queues, delays and commuter experiences on BRT routes, had reportedly raised concerns about being confronted while filming.
Her videos have attracted significant engagement on social media, where she regularly highlights issues faced by commuters using the public transport system.
