Mojisola Adeyeye women children investment appeal urges stronger support for women and children to build a healthier Nigeria
Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Mojisola Adeyeye, has called for increased national investment in the well-being of women and children, describing them as central to building a healthier and more sustainable future for Nigeria.

Mojisola Adeyeye made the appeal during the agency’s 2026 celebration of International Women’s Day in Abuja, an event organised to recognise the contributions of staff members, particularly women, within the organisation.
According to a statement issued to journalists on Sunday by NAFDAC Resident Media Consultant Olusayo Akintola, the event was themed “Give to Gain” and celebrated the dedication and service of NAFDAC employees in advancing public health.
The gathering brought together staff members and stakeholders to reflect on the important role women play in strengthening healthcare systems and improving community well-being across the country.
Mojisola Adeyeye emphasised that sustained investment in women and children is essential to achieving long-term improvements in public health outcomes and national development.
The NAFDAC chief said recognising women’s resilience and leadership within institutions dedicated to safeguarding lives through the regulation of food, medicines and other products remains vital.
Mojisola Adeyeye also highlighted the agency’s Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Initiative, which was inaugurated in November 2025 to strengthen health outcomes for vulnerable groups.
According to Mojisola Adeyeye, programmes targeting maternal and child health must remain integral to Nigeria’s broader development strategy.
Speaking during the event, Head of the NAFDAC Reforms Unit Joan Agbaagu said the theme “Give to Gain” reflects the importance of selfless service and collective commitment in improving the health of mothers, women and children.
Joan Agbaagu added that the initiative underscores the powerful contributions women continue to make in strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system and supporting national progress.
