24-year-old Nigerian Gift Oladele denies UK rape allegation, insisting the encounter with a 19-year-old was consensual in court

Gift Oladele, a 24-year-old Nigerian man, has denied allegations that he raped a 19-year-old woman after she claimed he dragged her into nearby woods in the United Kingdom.

Oladele appeared in court on 15 March 2026, forcefully rejecting the claims.

It’s a lie. I had consensual relations, Oladele told the presiding judge, asserting his innocence in front of court officials and attendees.

The alleged victim has accused Oladele of sexually assaulting her during the encounter in the woods.

Prosecutors presented details of the alleged incident, while Oladele’s defence team argued that the interaction was consensual and that the accusations are unsubstantiated.

The case remains under investigation, with further hearings scheduled to examine evidence and witness testimonies.

Legal experts emphasised that Oladele retains the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, and the proceedings have attracted public attention due to the serious nature of the charges.

Oladele was granted bail and will remain under court supervision as the trial continues over the coming months.
