Tacha Tiwa Savage UK dinner backlash as BBNaija star defends singer over criticism for attending UK state banquet hosted during Tinubu’s visit

Reality TV star Tacha has defended Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage following public criticism over her attendance at a high-profile state banquet held in the United Kingdom, in comments that have added momentum to the ongoing Tacha Tiwa Savage UK dinner backlash debate on social media.

Tiwa Savage was among the distinguished guests at a royal dinner hosted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle, organised in honour of President Bola Tinubu during his official state visit to the UK.

The event brought together political leaders, diplomats, and prominent cultural figures from Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Following the backlash online, Tacha questioned why the singer was being criticised for attending an official invitation of such diplomatic significance.

“For those of you dragging Tiwa Savage for attending a royal dinner, I genuinely want to understand the logic,” she wrote.

She further added, “Be honest… if you were in her position, representing your country on that level, would you even DREAM of TURNING IT DOWN??”

The banquet formed part of President Tinubu’s state visit, which also featured notable guests including British-Nigerian personalities such as Maro Itoje, Ben Okri, and Eniola Aluko, highlighting cultural and diplomatic ties between both countries.

While some social media users criticised Tiwa Savage’s presence at the event due to Nigeria’s domestic challenges, others defended her, describing the invitation as recognition of her international influence and cultural status.

The debate continues to generate reactions across online platforms, with supporters and critics divided over the symbolic meaning of celebrity participation in state diplomacy.
