Tinubu condemns Plateau Kaduna killings, describing attackers as heartless cowards while directing security agencies to intensify rescue operations
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has strongly condemned a series of deadly attacks in Plateau and Kaduna States, describing the perpetrators as “heartless cowards” and vowing that the incidents will not go unpunished.

In a statement issued on Tuesday through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President reacted to the killings in Angwan Rukuba district in Jos, Plateau State, as well as the attack in Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, which reportedly involved the killing and abduction of wedding guests.
Tinubu condemns Plateau Kaduna killings formed the central message of his remarks, as he characterised the attacks as a direct affront to national values and an attempt to incite further violence.
He warned that such assaults on vulnerable communities are often designed to provoke reprisals and destabilise affected regions.
The President directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and prevent further attacks, while also urging vigilance against the spread of misinformation that could inflame tensions.
He cautioned media actors against narratives suggesting religious motivation behind the incidents, stressing the need for responsible reporting.
Tinubu also acknowledged ongoing rescue and containment operations, noting the safe return of two victims from the Kaduna incident.
He emphasised the urgency of securing the release of remaining abductees and called for improved intelligence-driven policing to prevent similar occurrences.
Commending state authorities, the President praised the efforts of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for their roles in managing the situation and supporting security operations.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to equipping security agencies with more advanced tools to combat crime and protect citizens.

Tinubu extended condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured a swift recovery, while urging communities to cooperate with security directives, including evacuation and relocation where necessary, to safeguard lives and restore stability.
