Benue truck accident at Gboko’s Rice Mill Junction claims a life, raising concerns over frequent crashes on the busy road
A tragic road accident at Rice Mill Junction in Gboko Local Government Area has claimed the life of an unidentified man after a truck ran over him in what residents described as a sudden and devastating incident.

Eyewitnesses said the fatal Benue truck accident occurred on a busy stretch of road known for heavy traffic involving commercial trucks and other vehicles.
The victim was reportedly killed instantly before any form of assistance could be rendered.
The scene quickly drew attention from passersby, who gathered in shock as the aftermath unfolded.
A witness described the moment as chaotic and abrupt, noting that there was little opportunity to react or intervene.
“It happened so fast. The man didn’t stand a chance,” an eyewitness said.
A resident identified as Hiifan Zendesha also recounted the incident, describing the atmosphere at the junction as tense following the crash.
Rice Mill Junction has long been regarded by locals as a high-risk area due to frequent movement of heavy-duty vehicles and recurring accidents, raising ongoing concerns about road safety and traffic management in the area.
When contacted for confirmation, the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, said she had not yet been briefed on the incident at the time of enquiry.
The identity of the deceased remains unknown, and authorities are yet to provide further details as investigations are expected to follow.

Residents have continued to call for improved traffic regulation and enforcement measures to reduce the frequency of accidents at the junction, which many describe as dangerously congested.
