Content creator and actor Tolani Dada, popularly known as Motolani Odobodobo, has addressed the Tolani Dada sugar boy misconception, clarifying that his online persona does not reflect his real-life identity.

Tolani Dada made the remarks during an interview with Saturday Beats, where the entertainer said some viewers often blur the line between his skit characters and his personal life.
Tolani Dada explained that the portrayal of a flamboyant “sugar boy” is simply part of building a compelling and believable character.
“Some people assume the character reflects my real lifestyle.
They think I’m actually a sugar boy in real life. But that’s just part of creating a strong, believable character,” Tolani Dada said.
Despite the misunderstanding, Tolani Dada noted that he remains focused on the overwhelmingly positive reception his content receives.
The creator added that while not every viewer may connect with his style, he remains committed to authenticity and audience awareness.

Tolani Dada said his early experience in church drama provided a foundation before he transitioned into street-style content in pursuit of greater creative freedom.
With limited resources at the time, Tolani Dada began producing vox pop videos and interviews, often working with just one collaborator behind the camera.
A turning point came through consistent posting, which gradually attracted attention from major social media platforms and industry figures.
Tolani Dada said reposts from platforms such as Tunde Ednut, Gossipmill, KraksTV, YabaLeft and NaijaEverything significantly boosted his visibility, alongside recognition from actresses Sotayo Gaga and Regina Chukwu.
Looking ahead, Tolani Dada expressed a determined ambition to expand his presence within Nollywood.
The actor noted that mentorship and connections within the industry, including ties to Itele D’Icon, have helped shape his evolving career path.
