Preye has been eliminated from MasterChef Nigeria after a critical cooking error during the Mystery Box Challenge, where an undercooked sirloin steak ultimately sealed his fate in the competition.

The latest episode of the culinary competition saw seven remaining home cooks return to the kitchen following Demilade’s departure the previous week, facing a high-pressure double challenge that tested skill, precision and composure.
The first challenge featured a Blind Taste Test, where contestants were required to identify fruits and vegetables using only their sense of taste. David, Loye and Favy successfully identified the ingredients, securing safety and a place on the gantry.
Preye, Derry, Fads and Isabella were left to compete in the second stage of the challenge, the Mystery Box round, where creativity and technical execution determined their fate.
Derry delivered an impressive performance that earned her the Dish of the Day title, impressing the judges with her presentation, balance of flavours and technical precision.
Fads also secured safety with her Plantain Tacos, which demonstrated creativity and resilience, although the judges urged her to raise her standards as the competition intensifies.
Preye, however, found himself in the bottom group alongside Isabella after the judges reviewed their dishes.
Although his Roasted Sirloin with Butternut Squash initially impressed with its presentation, the mood in the kitchen changed when Chef Eros discovered that the steak was undercooked.
The error proved decisive, as undercooked meat is considered a major fault in the MasterChef kitchen, especially at this stage of the competition where precision is critical.
Despite showing promise in plating and concept, Preye’s mistake ultimately ended his MasterChef Nigeria journey.
With the competition now narrowing, the remaining contestants face increasing pressure to deliver consistent, high-quality dishes capable of meeting professional standards.
The show continues weekly on Sundays at 7 pm on Africa Magic Showcase and Africa Magic Family, with repeat broadcasts on Wednesdays and Thursdays across both channels.
