The competition, which features ten home cooks battling for a ₦73 million grand prize, opened with intense pressure as judges Chef Eros and Chef Stone introduced an unexpected black apron challenge.
Contestants were tasked with preparing a dish inspired by a personal photograph within 60 minutes, a test of emotion, skill and time management.
The twist struck early when Pearl, originally from Delta State, failed to present her dish after attempting a complex menu inspired by her heritage. With no plate served, she was immediately sent home.
Margaret, who had aimed to honour her employers with a traditional Nigerian-inspired dish, also exited the competition after her meal was criticised for lacking balance and cohesion.
Judge Chef Stone advised her to simplify her approach, noting that ambition must align with execution in the high-pressure kitchen.
The episode also showcased strong performances from other contestants. David (24) impressed the judges with his egusi purée and suya-inspired plating, earning dish of the day.
Favy (26) stood out with an inventive coastal-inspired rice dish, while Isabella (39) received praise for her German-style potato soup, described by Chef Eros as restaurant-worthy.
Elsewhere, contestants Derry (29), Fads (29), Demilade (30), Loye (31), and Preye (34) delivered mixed performances, with Preye earning particular praise for a deeply personal pepper soup reinterpretation rooted in family tradition.
Despite the early exits, the judges maintained that the competition is only just beginning, with more rigorous challenges ahead as contestants continue their pursuit of culinary excellence.
