The visit comes ahead of a diplomatic and sporting event organised by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, led by Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, in collaboration with the Polish Embassy in Abuja.

During the inspection of the VIP Lounge, Ambassador Cygan met with organisers to review preparations for the event, which is expected to host diplomats, sports stakeholders, youth leaders and football enthusiasts.

The envoy expressed satisfaction with the level of readiness at the venue, describing it as suitable for an event aimed at strengthening international friendship and cooperation.

He noted that the watch party goes beyond football, highlighting its role in promoting unity, cultural exchange and diplomatic engagement between both countries.

“Tomorrow will be about friendship and unity,” Cygan said, adding that the gathering would bring together friends of Poland and members of the diplomatic community to celebrate the game.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen sports diplomacy between Nigeria and Poland, with discussions already underway on grassroots sports development, youth empowerment and exchange programmes.

Speaking after the inspection, Adeboye said the partnership reflects the government’s commitment to using sports as a tool for unity and youth development.
